Mashru comes from the name ‘Mishr” in sanskrit, meaning “mixed”. Wearing silk made from silkworm, was considered a taboo in the olden days. Mashru silk was hence made with silk outside and cotton inside, to avoid silk from touching the body. With the granduer of silk and comfort of cotton, this fabric is highly popular for time immemorial.
